This is a snapshot of my year in Vietnam.  I was stationed at Det J 3rd RRU... later known as 8th RRU.  All I can say is it was an interesting time in my life.  I turned 20 in December 1964 and when the IG came, I was not allowed to have a drink of hard liquor...  we all found this to be ludicrous.  In the years since, I have often wondered what became of my comrades and friends.  I have found 3 in the past year... Joe Gillam,  Michael Greenfield and Fred Warnock.  Maybe I can find more.  Be that as it may I will keep searching.

I present to you a small pictorial history of my time in country.

Some may have heard stories of the meaning of this shield..  the one I heard was - The blue is the ocean we crossed, the red is the blood we will never shed, the yellow is the reason why.  The broken wheel is the transportation we never got, the lightning is the communications we never intercepted, the French toilet is where it went and finally khong biet  - I don't understand- .
